Chap. CII.— An Act *respecting the district court of the United States in the northern district of New York.*(*a*)(*a*) See notes to act April 3, 1818, ch. 32.March 3, 1817. [Expired.] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United The court for the northern district to be holden by the judges thereof and judge of the southern district. States of America, in Congress assembled,* That from and after the passage of this act, the district court of the United States, within and for the northern district of New York, shall be holden by the judges of said northern district, together with the judge of the district court of the United States for the southern district of said state: *Provided, nevertheless,* That either of said judges shall be competent to hold said court in the absence of the other.Altered by act of April 3, 1818, ch. 32.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted,* That the district court of the United States, within and for said northern district, shall be holden at the village Times and places of holding the court for the northern district. Act of March 2, 1821, ch. 32. of Utica, on the third Tuesday of January, and second Tuesday of July; at Canandaigua on the second Tuesday of October; and at Salem on the third Tuesday of April, in each year. And all suits and proceedings in said court shall be revived and continue in full force, in the same manner as if the said court had been adjourned to the term next to be holden by virtue of this act.
Sec. 3. *And be it further enacted,* That during the continuance of this 1000 dollars annually additional to the judge of the southern district. act, there shall be paid to the judge of the district court of said southern district, in addition to his present salary, the annual sum of one thousand dollars, as compensation for the duties required to be performed under this act. Sec. 4. *And be it further enacted,* That this act shall be in force one This act in force for a year only. year, and no longer.
