CHAP. 364.— An Act To punish the impersonation of inspectors of the health and other departments of the District of Columbia. March 2, 1897. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That it shall be unlawful forDistrict of Columbia.Punishment for falsely personating inspectors. any person in the District of Columbia to falsely represent himself or herself as being an inspector of the health department of said District, or au inspector of any department of the District government; and any620FIFTY-FOURTH CONGRESS.
Sess. II. Chs. 364–366. 1897. person so offending shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction in the police court of said District shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty dollars for the first offense, and for each subsequent offense by a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more than one hundred dollars, or imprisonment in the jail of the District not exceeding six months, or both, in the discretion of the court.
