CHAP. 328.— An Act For the relief John McLain, alias Michael McLain. February 25, 1897. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * That the Secretary of War be,John McLain, alias Michael McLain.Granted honorable discharge. and he hereby is, authorized and directed to remove the charge of desertion from the military record of John McLain, alias Michael McLain, late a member of Company D, Tenth Illinois Infantry, and Company I, Thirteenth Missouri Cavalry, and grant him an honorable discharge, as of date October twenty-second, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, the date he suffered an amputation of his left arm by reason of gunshot wounds received while engaged with his command against the enemy, at the battle of Independence, Missouri.
