CHAP. 297.— An Act To restore the name of James R. Pack to the pension roll. February 22, 1897. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * That the Secretary of theJames R. Pack.Pension restored. Interior be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to restore to the pension roll of the United States the name of James R. Pack, who was a private in Company D, of the Webster County (Missouri) Home Guards, and acting assistant surgeon of the United States Army, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per mouth: *Provided,**Proviso.*No retention authorized.
That the pension herein granted shall be paid to James R. Pack, and that no part of it shall be retained by any authority to reimburse the Government for any pension heretofore paid. Received by the President, February 10, 1897. [Note by the Department of State.—The foregoing act having been presented to the President of the United States for his approval, and not having been returned by him to the house of Congress in which it originated within the time prescribed by the Constitution of the United States, has become a law without his approval.]
