CHAP. 279.— An Act Granting an increase of pension to Nettie A. Cheeks. February 22, 1897. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * That the Secretary of theNettie A. Cheeks.Pension increased. Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place upon 812 FIFTY-FOURTH CONGRESS. Sess. II. Chs. 279–282. 1897. the pension roll the name of Nettie A. Cheeks, widow of Peter C. Cheeks, late a private Company D, Thirteenth Regiment United States Infantry, and a private United States Marine Corps, and pay her a pension of twenty dollars per month.

[Note by the Department of State.—The foregoing act having been presented to the President of the United States for his approval, and not having been returned by him to the house of Congress in which it originated within the time prescribed by the Constitution of the United States, has become a law without his approval.]
