CHAP. 184.— An Act For the relief of Major-General George S. Greene.August 1, 1894. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,George S. Greene.May be appointed on Army retired list. That the President be, and he is hereby, authorized to nominate and, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint George S. Greene, late brigadier and brevet major-general United States Volunteers, to the rank of first lieutenant of artillery in the Army of the United States, and to place him on the retired list of the Army as of that grade, the retired list being thereby increased in number to that extent; and all laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith are suspended for this purpose only: *Provided*, That from and after the passage of this Act no pension shall*Proviso*.Pension to cease. be paid to the said George S.
Greene, but this proviso shall be no bar to any claims for pension that the widow or children or other heirs of said George S. Greene may have after his decease. [Note by the Department of State.—The foregoing act having been presented to the President of the United States for his approval, and not having been returned by him to the house of Congress in which it originated within the time prescribed by the Constitution of the United States, has become a law without his approval.]
