CHAP. 176.— An Act Relating to the pay and retirement of mates in the United States Navy.August 1, 1894. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Navy.Mates may be retired as warrant officers.Pay. That the law regulating the retirement of warrant officers in the Navy shall be construed to apply to the twenty-eight officers now serving as mates in the Navy, anti the said mates shall be entitled to receive annual pay at the rates following:
When at sea, one thousand two hundred dollars; on shore duty, nine hundred dollars: on leave or waiting orders, seven hundred dollars: *Proviso*.No prior increase.*Provided, however*, That nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to authorize any increase of pay for any time prior to the passage of this Act.
