CHAP. 197.— An Act fixing the rate of interest to be charged on arrearages of general and special taxes now due the District of Columbia if paid within a time specified.May 6, 1890. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,District of Columbia.Interest,etc., on tax arrearages, etc., reduced.*Post*, p. 686. That the rate of interest to be collected of any person owing arrearages of general taxes prior to July first, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, or assessments for special improvements, including the laying of water mains, now due to and the liens for which are held by the District of Columbia, shall be six per centum per annum, in lieu of the rate and penalties now fixed by law and of all accrued costs: *Provided*, *Proviso*.Limited to June 30, 1890.That this provision shall only apply to taxes and assessments paid on or before the thirtieth day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety.
