CHAP. 204.— An Act to prevent any person or persons in the cities of Washington and Georgetown from making books and pools on the result of trotting or running races or boat races.April 26, 1888. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Pool selling and other gambling unlawful in Washington and Georgetown. D. C. That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, or association or persons, in the cities of Washington and Georgetown, in the District of Columbia, to bet, gamble, or make books and pools on the result of any trotting race or running race of horses, or boat race, or race of any kind, or on any election, or contest of any kind, or game of baseball.
Sec. 2. That any person or persons, or association of persons, violatingPunishment. the provisions of this act, shall be fined not exceeding five hundred nor less than twenty-five dollars, or be imprisoned not more than ninety days, or both, at the discretion of the court. Approved, April 26, 1888.
