CHAP. 6.— An act making an appropriation for the purchase of the old Produce Exchange building, and the site bounded by Whitehall, Pearl, Moore, and Water streets, Now York City, for Army purposes.Feb. 2, 1886. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Produce Exchange building, New York City. Appropriation to purchase, for Army purposes. That the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be, and hereby is, appropriated for the purchase of the old Produce Exchange building and site, bounded by Whitehall, Pearl, Moore, and Water streets, New York City, for Army purposes, and two hundred thousand dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary for the alteration and remodeling of the building, so as to make it suitable in all 3 respects for Government use, said appropriation to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War: *Provided*, That before the expenditure*Proviso*. of any of the appropriation hereby made, good and valid titleTitle. shall be secured to the United States for the land and the improvements thereon contemplated by this act, and the consent of the legislature of the State of New York obtained to the purchase thereof.
