CHAP. 160.— AN ACT to authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to convey land in Providence, Rhode Island, for highway purposes.February 26, 1885. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Providence, R. I.Secretary of Treasury to convey certain land to, for widening street. That the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized to convey to the city of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, for highway purposes, such portion of the old customhouse lot, so called, owned by the United States, situated on the northwesterly corner of South Main street and Custom avenue, in said city, as may be required for the widening of said South Main street, upon the application for such widening now pending in the supreme court of Rhode Island.
Sec. 2. That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to agreeSecretary to agree with city as t o compensation for land and damages. with the city of Providence upon the amount of compensation to be paid the United States for said land and damages to the building on said lot, and to receive such amount in full payment therefor.
