CHAP. 137.— AN ACT to authorize the purchase of a wharf for the use of the Government in Wilmington, North Carolina.February 20, 1885. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Wilmington, N.C. That the Secretary of the United States Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to cause an 308 FORTY-EIGHTH CONGRESS. SESS. II. CH. 137-139. 1885. examination to be made of the wharf in front of the customhouse and other propertyAuthorizing Secretary of Treasury to purchase wharf and building for use of Revenue Marino Service, if advantageous and necessary. at the port of Wilmington, North Carolina, offered by E.
E. Burress, president of the First National Bank of Wilmington, namely, the following real estate: One hundred and sixty-six feet front on the Cape Fear River, lying between Market and Princess streets and Water street and the river; and also the brick tire-proof two-story warehouse, together with the land on which it is situated, adjoining the customhouse on the south, the said warehouse occupying a space of thirty feet front and running east ninety-two feet; and on inquiry as to their necessity for use for the Revenue Marine Service and other customs purposes at that port, and if it shall be found advantageous and necessary for such purposes, to purchase the same at a reasonable price: *Proviso*.Cost.Appropriation.*Provided*, That it shall not exceed thirty thousand dollars, which amount shall be paid out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
