CHAP. 397.— An Act to provide for the erection of a public building in the city of Saint Joseph, in the State of Missouri.August 5, 1882. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Saint Joseph, Mo. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to purchase a 300 FORTY-SEVENTH CONGRESS. Sess. I. Ch. 397, 398. 1882. site for, and cause to be erected thereon, a suitable building, with fireproof Public building.Purchase of site.vault extending to each story, for the accommodation of the post-office, custom house, bonded warehouse, internal revenue offices, and other government offices, at the city of Saint Joseph, in the State of Plans; cost.Missouri.
The site, and building thereon, when completed upon plans and specifications to be previously made and approved by the secretary of the Treasury, shall not exceed the cost of seventy-five *Proviso.*Title.thousand dollars: *Provided*, That no money to be appropriated for this purpose shall be available until a valid title to the site of said building shall be vested in the United States, and until the State of Missouri shall cede to the United States exclusive jurisdiction over the same, during the time the United States shall be or remain the owner thereof, for all purposes except the administration of the criminal laws of said State and the service of civil processes therein Sec. 2. —That the sum of fifty thousand dollars be, and the same isAppropriation. hereby, appropriated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be used and expended toward the construction of said building.
