CHAP. 288.— An Act fixing the rate of interest upon arrearages of taxes due July first, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, and on all special assessments due the District of Columbia and which may be paid by November first, eighteen hundred and eighty-two and for other purposes.July 12, 1882. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Rate of interest on arrearages of certain taxes, etc., That the rate of interest to be collected on all general taxes in arrears on the first day of July, eight- 162 FORTY SEVENTH CONGRESS.
SESS. I. CH. 288-290. 1882. in District of Columbia.een hundred and seventy-nine, and on all special assessments due the District of Columbia, shall be six per centum per annum in lieu of the *Proviso.*rate and penalties now fixed by law, Provided, This act shall only apply to taxes and assessments paid on or before the first day of November, eighteen hundred and eighty-two.
