CHAP. 134.— An act to amend section eighteen hundred and sixty of the Revised Statutes so as not to exclude retired Army officers from holding civil office in the Territories Mar. 3, 1883. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the fourth clause of section[R. S. 1860, 329](/us/rs/s1860/339), amended. eighteen hundred and sixty of the revised statutes of the United States be, and the same is hereby, amended so as to read as follows:
" “Fourth. No person belonging to the Army or Navy shall be elected to or hold any civil office or appointment in any Territory, except officers of the Army on the retired list.” " Approved, March 3, 1883.
