CHAP. 125.— An act to punish larceny from the person in the District of Columbia. Mar. 3, 1883. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Larceny from the person of another a felony. That whoever, in the District of Columbia, commits larceny from the person of another shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and shall, on conviction thereof, be punished by imprisonment not more than six years, or by a fine not exceeding one Penalty.thousand dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Sec. 2. Attempt to commit larceny, etc. That whoever, in the District of Columbia, attempts to commit larceny from the person of another by any overt act, done with the intent to commit a larceny, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall, on conviction thereof, be punished in the police court of the District of Columbia by imprisonment in the District jail not more than Penalty.one year, or by fine not exceeding five hundred dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
