CHAP. 56.— An Act relating to justices of the peace in the Territories.April 16, 1880. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Justices of the peace in the Territories.Filling vacancies.*Proviso.* That when from any cause there shall be a vacancy in the office of justice of the peace in any of the Territories of the United States, it shall be lawful to fill such vacancy by appointment or election, in such manner as has been or may be Provided by the governor and legislative assembly of such Territory: *Provided,* That such appointee, or person elected to fill such vacancy, shall hold office only until his successor shall be regularly elected and qualified as provided by law. 75 FORTY-SIXTH CONGRESS.
Sess. II. Ch. 56, 57. 1880. Sec. 2. That all laws and parts of laws in conflict with the provisionsRepeal provisions. of this act be, and the same are hereby, repealed Approved, April 16, 1880.
