CHAP. 240.— An Act for the relief of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Missouri Cavalry Volunteers.June 16, 1880. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Payment of bounty to enlisted men of the Fifteeth and Sixteenth Missouri Cavalry, authorized; payable to certain heirs in case of soldier’s death. That the proper accounting officers of the Treasury be, and they hereby are, directed to pay bounty to the enlisted men of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Missouri Cavalry Volunteers who served during the late rebellion, as follows, to wit;
To those who served the full period of one year, or more, the sum of one hundred dollars; to those who served the full period of six months, but less than one year, the sum of sixty-six dollars and sixty-six cents;Appropriation. to those who served a less period than six months, the sum of thirty-three dollars and thirty three cents. Sec. 2. That in case of the death of the soldier, who if living would be entitled under the first section of this act, then the said sum or sums that would be due to said soldier if living shall be paid to his widow; and if there be no widow, then to his child or children; and if there be none, then to his mother if she be a widow.
And so much money as may be necessary to cany this law into effect is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, June 16, 1880.
