CHAP. 239.— An Act to constitute the city of Portsmouth, in the State of Ohio, a port of delivery.June 16, 1880. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Portsmouth, i n the State of Ohio, constituted a port of delivery. That the city of Portsmouth, in the State of Ohio, shall be, and is hereby, constituted a port of delivery within the collection-district of New Orleans, and shall be subject to the same regulations and restrictions as other ports of delivery in the United States; and all the privileges and facilities afforded by the act of Congress of the second1831, ch. 87,[Stat., 4, 480](/us/stat/4/480). of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-one entitled “An act allowing the duties on foreign merchandise imported into Pittsburgh, Wheeling, Cincinnati, Louisville, Saint Louis, Nashville, and Natchez, to be secured and paid at those places”, shall beSurveyor of customs to be appointed. extended to said port.
A surveyor of customs shall be appointed to reside at said port, and perform the duties prescribed by law, who shall receive such compensation now provided, or which may hereafter be provided, by law, for surveyors of the same grade: *Proviso.**Provided, *That the salary of the collector shall not exceed the net fees collected according to law at said port-.
