CHAP. 35.— An act authorizing the appointment of Doctor Junius L. Powell an assistant surgeon in the United States Army. Jan. 29, 1879. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, J. L. Powell may be appointed assistant surgeon in the Army. That the President of the United States is hereby authorized to appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, Doctor Junius L. Powell an assistant surgeon in the United States Army, with the rank of first lieutenant, to date from June sixth,1866, ch. 299,[14 Stat., 332](/us/stat/14/332). eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.
And the said Doctor Junius L. Powell is hereby relieved from the operation of the twenty-eighth section of the act entitled “An act to increase and fix the military peace establishment of the United States”, approved July twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-six. Approved, January 29, 1879.
