CHAP. 279.— An Act for the relief of William W. Speirs, late assistant surgeon United States Army.June 18, 1878. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,W. W. Speirs.Payment to. That the Secretarjof War be, and be is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to William W. Speirs, late assistant surgeon in the United States Army, such additional sum of money as will make his entire compensation equal to that of assistant surgeon during the period of bis active service in that capacity and of his imprisonment in rebel prisons as a prisoner of war, estimating such period from the date of his commission as such surgeon.
