CHAP. 244.— An Act for the relief of William H. Merritt.June 15, 1878. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Wm. H. Merritt.Payment to. That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to allow and pay to 567 FORTY-FIFTH CONGRESS. Sess. II. Ch. 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249. 1878. William H. Merritt, of the State of Iowa, late register of the Fort Dodge land-district-of Iowa, the sum of three thousand six hundred dollars for extraordinary clerk-hire and clerical services in his office from the first day of November, eighteen hundred and fifty-five, to the first day of October, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven.
Sec. 2. That to enable the Secretary of the Interior to make the paymentAppropriation.In fall of all claims. here in before required, there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of three thousand six hundred dollars; which shall be received by said William H. Merritt in full satisfaction and settlement of all claims or demauds against the government on the part of said William H. Merritt for the clerical or other expenses of his said office.
