CHAP. XXXV.— An Act for the Relief of Nicholas P. Trist, Negotiator of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. April 20, 1871. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * That there be paid to NicholasPayment to Nicholas P. Trist. P. Trist, the negotiator of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of thirteen thousand seven hundred and sixty-two dollars and forty cents, being balance due on account of salary, outfit, and return allowance as commissionerVol. ix. p. 922. to Mexico, from April fifteen, eighteen hundred and forty-seven, to April eight, eighteen hundred and forty-eight; and the further sum of seven hundred and ninety-seven dollars and fifty cents for contingent expenses incurred.
