CHAP. V.— An Act *making a temporary Appropriation for the Prosecution of the Work: upon the Improvement of the Des Moines Rapids in the Mississippi River*. Dec. 23, 1869. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That there be, and is hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwiseAppropriation for the improvement of the Des Moines rapids. appropriated, to be expended under the direction and superintendence of the Secretary of War, for the purpose of continuing the prosecution of the work upon the improvement of the Des Moines rapids in the Mississippi River, the sum of two hundred thousand dollars.
