CHAP. LXIX.— An Act for the Relief of John R. Bennett, late Register of the Land Office at Chatfield, Minnesota.Feb. 24, 1871. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the sum of seven thousandPayment to John R. Bennett. seven hundred and six dollars and eighty-nine cents be, and the same is hereby, allowed to John R. Bennett, late register of the land office at Chatfield, Minnesota, to reimburse him for the money necessarily paid out and expended by him in the payment of clerks necessarily employed in said land office, between the eighth day of July, A.
D. eighteen hundred and fifty-four, and the thirty-first day of May, A. D. eighteen hundred and sixty-one. Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted,* That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay said John R. Bennett seven thousand seven hundred and six dollars and eighty-nine cents out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, February 24, 1871.
