CHAP. IX.— An Act *relating to retired Officers of the Army*. Jan. 21, 1870.Pub. Res. No. 32.*Post*, p. 372. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Retired officers of the army not to be assigned to duty, &c.Former assignments to terminate.Repealing clause. That no retired officer of the army shall hereafter be assigned to duty of any kind, or be entitled to receive more than the pay and allowances provided by law for retired officers of his grade ; and all such assignments heretofore made shall terminate within thirty days from the passage of this act.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted*, That all laws and parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this act be, and the same are hereby, repealed. Approved, January 21, 1870.
