Chap. XIV.— An Act *to pay the Expenses of the special Committee of the House of Representatives, appointed July eighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, to ascertain and report in regard to Contracts with any Department of the Government for Provisions, Supplies, Transportation, &c.* January 31, 1862. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Appropriation for special committee on contracts. That there be appropriated, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of ten thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to pay the expenses of the special committee of the House of Representatives appointed on the eighth day of July, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, to ascertain and report in regard to contracts made with any Department of the Government for provisions, supplies, transportation, &c.; and said sum shall be drawn from the Treasury upon the order of the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives, as the same shall be required, from time to time by the committee having such investigation in charge.
