Chap. XLII.— An Act *to authorize the Settlement of the Accounts of Luther Jewett, late Collector of the District of Portland and Falmouth, in the State of Maine.* May 18, 1858. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the proper accounting officers Luther Jewett to be credited with $1000 lost in transit.of the Treasury Department be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to credit the account of Luther Jewett, late collector of the district of Portland and Falmouth, with the sum of one thousand dollars, being for that sum lost in transitu from said collector to be deposited with the assistant treasurer at Boston.
