Chap. V.— An Act *for the Relief of A. S. Bender.* Jan. 8, 1857. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the Secretary of War be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay to A. S. Bender, out of $1281.92 to be paid to A. S. Bender in full.any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of twelve hundred and eighty-one dollars and ninety-two cents, in full consideration of his services as superintendent of the United States lead mines of the upper Mississippi, from the second of August, eighteen hundred and forty-four, to the sixteenth of October, eighteen hundred and forty-seven,—it being the difference between his pay as such superintendent, to which he is entitled, and the pay of acting superintendent which he did receive for the same period.
