Chap. CXLIII.— An Act *for the Relief of Thomas M. Newell.* March 3, 1857. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the proper accounting Settlement of accounts of Thos. M. Newell.officer be and he hereby is authorized to settle and pay to Thomas M. Newell, a commander in the navy, such sum as may be due to him in his capacity of commander, from the third of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-five, to the thirteenth of October, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, under existing laws, in the same manner as though no application had ever been made to Congress by the said Newell in relation thereto.
