Chap. CXI.— An Act granting a Pension to Samuel B. Porter, a Soldier in the late War with Great Britain.August 16, 1856. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* ThatPension of Samuel B. Porter. the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby instructed to place the name of Samuel B. Porter on the list of invalid pensioners of the United States, and pay him a pension at the rate of six dollars per month, commencing on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three, and continue during his natural life: *Provided,*Proviso as to its increase.
That if, at any time hereafter, he shall prove to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Pensions that he is totally disabled in consequence of the injury alleged to have been received in the battle of Plattsburg, during the late war with Great Britain, then his pension, by this act granted, shall be increased to eight dollars per mouth; said increase to date from the completion of the proof of such increased disability.
