Chap. XCVIII.— An Act *to refund to the Officers of the Customs and Others, of the District of Passamaquoddy, certain Moneys.* Feb. 14, 1855. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and hereby is, authorized and directed, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to pay to the late officers of Payment to late officers of customs, at Passamaquoddy.the customs of the district of Passamaquoddy, and informers, their pro portion of the net proceeds of sale, by virtue of existing laws, arising from the condemnation of the schooners “L’Etang” and “Josephine,” and the barque “Phenix,” for a violation of the revenue laws in the district of Maine; the same having been wrongfully paid into the treasury of the United States through mistake.
