Chap. CIX.— An Act *to establish an Additional Land District in the Territory of Oregon.* Feb. 17, 1855. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That all the land lying south *Post,* p. 673.of the fourth standard parallel, in the Territory of Oregon, be, and the Additional land district in Oregon.same is hereby, created a new land district, to be called the Umpqua district; the land-office for which shall be established at such place within said district as the President shall from time to time direct, and the officers for which shall be appointed in the same manner, and have the compensation, powers, duties, obligations and responsibilities, that are prescribed 610 THIRTY-THIRD CONGRESS.

Ch. 110, 111, 112. 1855.in the sixth section of the act approved July seventeen, eighteen hundred 1854, ch. 84.and fifty-four, entitled “An act to amend the act approved September twenty-seven, eighteen hundred and fifty, to create the office of surveyor general of the public lands in Oregon,” etc.: *Provided, however,* That this act shall not go into effect until three months after its passage. Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted,* That the district lying north of Willamette land district.the fourth standard parallel in said territory shall be known as the Willamette land district.
