## SEC. 223 MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY PROGRESS REPORT Not later than May 25, 2000, the Secretary shall transmit to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a status report on the Department of Transportation's quantitative progress toward reducing motor carrier fatalities by 50 percent by the year 2009.
