## SEC. 929 APPLICATIONS FOR DESIGNATION ###
(a)In General Section 2209 of the FAA Extension, Safety, and Security Act of 2016 (49 U.S.C. 44802 note) is amended— ####
(1)in subsection
(a)by inserting “, including temporarily,” after “restrict”; ####
(2)in subsection (b)(1)(C)(iv) by striking “Other locations that warrant such restrictions” and inserting “State prisons”; and ####
(3)by adding at the end the following: > > ### “(f) Deadlines > > > #### “(1) > > Not later than 90 days after the date of enactment of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, the Administrator shall publish a notice of proposed rulemaking to carry out the requirements of this section. > > > #### “(2) > > Not later than 16 months after publishing the notice of proposed rulemaking under paragraph (1), the Administrator shall issue a final rule based on the notice of proposed rulemaking published under paragraph (1). > > > ### “(g) Definition of State Prison > > In this section, the term ‘State prison’ means an institution under State jurisdiction, including a State Department of Corrections, the primary use of which is for the confinement of individuals convicted of a felony.” > .
