## SEC. 1636 STUDY OF WEAPONS PROGRAMS THAT ALLOW ARMED FORCES TO ADDRESS HARD AND DEEPLY BURIED TARGETS Section 1674 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023 (Public Law 117-263) is amended— ####
(1)in subsection (e), by inserting “or fiscal year 2024” after “2023”; and ####
(2)by adding at the end the following new subsection: > > ### “(g) Authorization > > For fiscal year 2024, the Secretary of Energy may carry out activities related to the development and modification of a nuclear weapon to provide near-term capabilities that address portions of the strategy required by subsection (b)(3) using amounts authorized and appropriated for the sustainment of the B83-1 nuclear gravity bomb.” > .
