## SEC. 553 AGREEMENT BY A CADET OR MIDSHIPMAN TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL SPORT CONSTITUTES A BREACH OF AGREEMENT TO SERVE AS AN OFFICER ###
(a)United States Military Academy Section 7448 of title 10, United States Code, is amended as follows: ####
(1)Paragraph
(5)of subsection
(a)is amended to read as follows: > > #### “(5) > > That the cadet may not obtain employment as a professional athlete until two years after the cadet graduates from the Academy.” > . ####
(2)Subsection
(b)is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph: > > #### “(4) > > A cadet who violates paragraph
(5)of subsection
(a)is not eligible for the alternative obligation under paragraph (1).” > . ####
(3)Subsection
(c)is amended— #####
(A)by redesignating paragraphs
(2)and
(3)as paragraphs
(3)and (4), respectively; and #####
(B)by inserting, after paragraph (1), the following new paragraph (2): > > #### “(2) > > that a cadet who obtains employment as a professional athlete— > > > ##### “(A) > > in violation of paragraph
(5)of subsection
(a)has breached an agreement under such subsection; and > > > ##### “(B) > > at least two years after the cadet graduates from the Academy has not breached an agreement under subsection (a);” > . ####

(A)by striking “with respect to an officer who is a graduate of the Academy” and inserting “with respect to a cadet”; and #####
(B)by striking “officer’s” and inserting “cadet’s”. ####

(b)United States Naval Academy Section 8459 of title 10, United States Code, is amended as follows: ####

(d)Applicability The amendments made by this section shall only apply with respect to a cadet or midshipman who first enrolls in the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, or the United States Air Force Academy on or after June 1, 2021.
