## SEC. 30001 DEFINITIONS ###

(a)In General Section 5302 of title 49, United States Code, is amended— ####

(1)by redesignating paragraphs

(1)through

(24)as paragraphs (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), (14), (15), (16), (17), (18), (19), (20), (21), (22), (23), (24), and (25), respectively; and ####

(2)by inserting before paragraph

(2)(as so redesignated) the following: > > #### “(1) Assault on a transit worker > > The term ‘**assault on a transit worker**’ means a circumstance in which an individual knowingly, without lawful authority or permission, and with intent to endanger the safety of any individual, or with a reckless disregard for the safety of human life, interferes with, disables, or incapacitates a transit worker while the transit worker is performing the duties of the transit worker.” > ; and ####

(3)in subparagraph

(G)of paragraph

(b)Conforming Amendments ####

(1)Section 601(a)(12)(E) of title 23, United States Code, is amended by striking “**section 5302(3)(G)(v)**” and inserting “**section 5302(4)(G)(v)**”. ####

(2)Section 5323(e)(3) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking “**section 5302(3)(J)**” and inserting “**section 5302(4)(J)**”. ####

(3)Section 5336(e) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking “**, as defined in section 5302(4)**”. ####

(4)Section 28501(4) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking “**section 5302(a)(6)**” and inserting “**section 5302**”.
