## SEC. 2861 INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF FIRE EXTINGUISHERS IN DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE FACILITIES **[**[10 U.S.C. 113 note](/us/usc/t10/s113)**]** The Secretary of Defense shall ensure that portable fire extinguishers are installed and maintained in all Department of Defense facilities, in accordance with NFPA 1, Fire Code of the National Fire Protection Association and applicable requirements of the international building code and international fire code of the International Code Council that require redundancy and extinguishers throughout occupancies regardless of the presence of other suppression systems or alarm systems.
