## SEC. 1663 BRIEFINGS ON MEETINGS HELD BY NUCLEAR WEAPONS COUNCIL Section 179 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: > > ### “(g) Semiannual Briefings > > > ####
(1)> > Not later than February 1 and August 1 of each year, the Council shall provide to the congressional defense committees a briefing on, with respect to the six-month period preceding the briefing— > > > ##### “(A) > > the dates on which the Council met; and > > > ##### “(B) > > except as provided by paragraph (2), a summary of any decisions made by the Council pursuant to subsection
(d)at each such meeting and the rationale for and options that informed such decisions. > > > #### “(2) > > The Council shall not be required to include in a briefing under paragraph
(1)the matters described in subparagraph
(B)of that paragraph with respect to decisions of the Council relating to the budget of the President for a fiscal year if the budget for that fiscal year has not been submitted to Congress under section 1105 of title 31 as of the date of the briefing.” > .
