TITLE IV—REINSTATEMENT OF LEASES AND CONVERSION OF UNPATENTED OIL PLACER CLAIMS Sec. 401. Amendment of Mineral Lands Leasing Act of 1920. 1The Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Management Act of 1982 (96 Stat. 2447) consists of the Act of January 12, 1983 (Public Law 97–451; 30 U.S.C. 1701 and following). The Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Simplification and Fairness Act of 1996 (P.L. 104–185; 110 Stat. 1700; enacted on August 13, 1996) made amendments to this Act.
Section 9 of such Act provides as follows: SEC. 9. INDIAN LANDS. The amendments made by this Act shall not apply with respect to Indian lands, and the provisions of the Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Management Act of 1982 as in effect on the day before the date of enactment of this Act shall continue to apply after such date with respect to Indian lands. **[**[30 U.S.C. 1701 note](/us/usc/t30/s1701)**]**
