(b)Effective Date of Amendments **[**[50 U.S.C. 2001](/us/usc/t50/s2001) nt**]** ####
(1)The amendments made by subsection
(a)relating to widows or widowers shall apply in the case of a surviving spouse's remarriage occurring on or after July 27, 1989, and with respect to periods beginning after such date. ####
(2)The amendments made by subsection
(a)relating to former spouses shall apply with respect to any former spouse whose remarriage occurs after the date of enactment of this Act. * * * * * * *
