## SEC. 712 MODIFICATION OF PRIORITY FOR EVALUATION AND TREATMENT OF INDIVIDUALS AT MILITARY TREATMENT FACILITIES **[**[10 U.S.C. 1071 note](/us/usc/t10/s1071)**]** Subsection
(b)of section 717 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 (Public Law 114-328) is amended to read as follows: > > ### “(b) Priority of Covered Beneficiaries > > > #### “(1) In general > > Except as provided in paragraph (2), the evaluation and treatment of covered beneficiaries at military treatment facilities shall be prioritized ahead of the evaluation and treatment of veterans and civilians at such facilities under subsection (a). > > > #### “(2) Waiver > > The Secretary may waive the requirement under paragraph
(1)in order to provide timely evaluation and treatment for individuals who are— > > > ##### “(A) > > severely wounded or injured by acts of terror that occur in the United States; or > > > ##### “(B) > > residents of the United States who are severely wounded or injured by acts of terror outside the United States.” > .
