## SEC. 24110 INCREASE IN CIVIL PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ###
(a)Increase in Civil Penalties Section 30165(a) of title 49, United States Code, is amended— ####
(1)in paragraph (1)— #####
(A)by striking “$5,000” and inserting “$21,000”; and #####
(B)by striking “$35,000,000” and inserting “$105,000,000”; and ####
(2)in paragraph (3)— #####
(A)by striking “$5,000” and inserting “$21,000”; and #####
(B)by striking “$35,000,000” and inserting “$105,000,000”. ###
(b)Effective Date **[**[49 U.S.C. 30165 note](/us/usc/t49/s30165)**]** The amendments made by subsection
(a)of this section take effect on the date that the Secretary certifies to Congress that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued the final rule required by section 31203(b) of the Moving Ahead for Progress In the 21st Century Act (Public Law 112-141; 126 Stat. 758; 49 U.S.C. 30165 note). ###
(c)Publication of Effective Date The Secretary shall publish notice of the effective date under subsection
(b)of this section in the Federal Register.
