## SEC. 1651 REPORT ON PLANS FOR RESPONSE OF DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO INF TREATY VIOLATION ###
(a)Report Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report containing a detailed description of any steps being taken or planned to be taken by the Secretary in response to actions of the Government of the Russian Federation in violation of its obligations under the INF Treaty in order to reduce the negative impact of such actions on the national security of the United States. ###
(b)Elements The report under subsection
(a)shall include a description of any plans to conduct activities relating to the research, development, testing, or deployment of potential future military capabilities of the United States, including with respect to activities to modify, test, or deploy existing military systems, to deter or defend against the threat of intermediate-range nuclear force systems of Russia if Russia deploys such systems. ###
(c)Form The report required by subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex. ###
(d)INF Treaty Defined In this section, the term “INF Treaty” means the Treaty Between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, commonly referred to as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces
(INF)Treaty, signed at Washington December 8, 1987, and entered into force June 1, 1988.
