## SEC. 544 SECRETARY OF DEFENSE REPORT ON FEASIBILITY OF REQUIRING AUTOMATIC OPERATION OF CURRENT PROHIBITION ON ACCRUAL OF INTEREST ON DIRECT STUDENT LOANS OF CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, after consultation with relevant Federal agencies, shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate a report addressing— ####
(1)the feasibility of automatic application of the benefits provided under section 455(o) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1087e(o)) for members of the Armed Forces eligible for the benefits; and ####
(2)if the Secretary determines automatic application of such benefits is feasible, how the Department of Defense would implement the automatic operation of the current prohibition on the accrual of interest on direct student loans of certain members, including the Federal agencies with which the Department of Defense would coordinate. ## Subtitle F Defense Dependents’ Education and Military Family Readiness Matters
