## SEC. 3503 APPROVAL OF APPLICATIONS In selecting among applications submitted under section 3502(a), the Secretary shall give priority to applicants who propose to carry out projects and activities— ####
(1)for the purposes specified in section 3501 in geographical areas in which frequent and severe drug-related crimes are committed by gangs whose membership is composed primarily of youth, and ####
(2)that the applicant demonstrates have the broad support of community based organizations in such geographical areas. **[**[42 U.S.C. 11803](/us/usc/t42/s11803)**]**
