## SEC. 250 REVIEW OF DEFENSE-WIDE DIRECTED ENERGY PROGRAMS ###
(a)Evaluation The Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology, shall evaluate expansion of the High Energy Laser management structure specified in section 242 for possible inclusion in that management structure of science and technology programs in related areas, including the following: ####
(1)High power microwave technologies. ####
(2)Low energy and nonlethal laser technologies. ####
(3)Other directed energy technologies. ###
(b)Consideration of Prior Study The evaluation under subsection
(a)shall take into consideration the July 1999 Department of Defense study on streamlining and coordinating science and technology and research, development, test, and evaluation within the Department of Defense. ###
(c)Report The Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the findings of the evaluation under subsection (a). The report shall be submitted not later than March 15, 2001. # TITLE III OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE * * * * * * *
