## SEC. 312 AUTHORITY OF SECRETARY OF A MILITARY DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS WITH INDIAN TRIBES FOR LAND MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH MILITARY INSTALLATIONS AND STATE-OWNED NATIONAL GUARD INSTALLATIONS ###
(a)Inclusion of Indian Tribes Section 103A(a) of the Sikes Act (16 U.S.C. 670c-1(a)) is amended in the matter preceding paragraph
(1)by inserting “Indian tribes,” after “local governments,”. ###
(b)Indian Tribe Defined Section 100 of such Act (16 U.S.C. 670) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph: > > #### “(6) Indian tribe > > The term ‘Indian tribe’ means any Indian tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community, including any Alaska Native village or regional or village corporation as defined in or established pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (43 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians.” > .
