## SEC. 651 DEATH GRATUITY AND RELATED BENEFITS FOR RESERVES WHO DIE DURING AN AUTHORIZED STAY AT THEIR RESIDENCE DURING OR BETWEEN SUCCESSIVE DAYS OF INACTIVE DUTY TRAINING ###
(a)Death Gratuity ####
(1)Payment authorized Section 1475(a)(3) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting before the semicolon the following: “or while staying at the Reserve’s residence, when so authorized by proper authority, during the period of such inactive duty training or between successive days of inactive duty training”. ####
(2)Treatment as death during inactive duty training Section 1478(a) of such title is amended— #####
(A)by redesignating paragraphs
(4)through
(8)as paragraphs
(5)through (9), respectively; and #####
(B)by inserting after paragraph
(3)the following new paragraph (4): > > #### “(4) > > A person covered by subsection (a)(3) of section 1475 of this title who died while on authorized stay at the person’s residence during a period of inactive duty training or between successive days of inactive duty training is considered to have been on inactive duty training on the date of his death.” > . ###
(b)Recovery, Care, and Disposition of Remains and Related Benefits Section 1481(a)(2) of such title is amended— ####
(1)by redesignating subparagraph
(E)and
(F)as subparagraphs
(F)and (G), respectively; and ####
(2)by inserting after subparagraph
(D)the following new subparagraph (E): > > ##### “(E) > > staying at the member’s residence, when so authorized by proper authority, during a period of inactive duty training or between successive days of inactive duty training;” > . ###
(c)Effective Date **[**[10 U.S.C. 1475 note](/us/usc/t10/s1475)**]** The amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act, and shall apply with respect to deaths that occur on or after that date. ## Subtitle G Other Matters
